I'm glad you've asked. My name is Ebony Bennett, a talented artist residing in the City of Brotherly, Philadelphia, PA. As a child, I've always had a passion for drawing. I would draw on anything and everything possible. Luckily, I had parents who did not mind the doodling on the pants leg of my jeans or the markings I created on my bedroom wall. Creating was my thing. That's when realized I wanted to be an artist when I grew up.
Life as an adult has been trying. During some of the roughest time, I would turn on my radio, pick up my pencil and draw. Drawing was and is my therapy. One day, I decided to try out some different materials. I need some color!! I bought markers, pastels and paints to experiment with. In the process, I discovered my love for painting.
Majority of times I paint with acrylics and watercolors. In my collection, you will see portraits of black activists, musicians and everyday people. I'm also inspired by everyday objects, nature, flowers. Especially, Calla Lilies and Magnolias. My works has been shown through the Philly Art Collective, HerSpace Arts, Chestnut Hill Art Festival and The Monkey and The Elephant. I've hosted a few paint session in my Brewerytown neighborhood.
I will keep creating and sharing my gift with the world.
I am... EBONY BENNETT
